The Kirklin Clinic, pictured at left, has as one of its greatest advantages the presence of general practitioners and specialists from all fields. This unique mix of disciplines makes it easy for physicians to collaborate on diagnoses and treatments.

UAB's surgical services cover nearly every type of procedure, from those of cardiothoracic (heart and lung), orthopaedic (bones and joints), and neurosurgery (brain, spinal cord, and nerves) to urology (urinary tract and genitals), pediatric surgery (children), and otolaryngology (ear, nose, and throat).
